Camshaft adjuster magnet. These are common points of failure on the EA888.3 engines, all EA888.3, 1.8 & 2.0 TSI engines have two camshaft adjuster magnets situated on the left-hand side of the engine.
Early signs of failure include lumpy/sporadic idle and misfires. Can be diagnosed with VCDS/OBD11.
